First Annual Boulder County Juneteenth Celebration

This free event is co-sponsored by the city’s Human Relations Commission and organized by the Executive Committee For African American Cultural Events (ECAACE) and the Boulder County Branch of the NAACP.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, is an important part of American history as it commemorated the official end of slavery on June 19, 1865. The Boulder County Juneteenth Celebration will celebrate freedom, acknowledge local community members in the fight for equity and justice, and pay special tribute to Ms. Opal Lee, “The 94-year-old Grandmother of Juneteenth.”

This event will be held virtually, with subtitles for the hearing impaired. This year’s production will premiere on the ECAACE YouTube channel on June 19 at 10 a.m.
